Parent Sign Up

Parents can follow these steps to sign up for a Show Up account.

STOP: Do not set up a parent account until your student's account has been created and you have received an automated email inviting you to set up your account. Expect your email invitation to appear once your student's teacher has accepted them into their school on Show Up.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Stop!  Your first step is easy: don’t do anything!  Your student needs to download the Show Up app first, create a student account, and request to join a school.  Once their teacher has accepted their request, the app will prompt your student to invite a parent.  They will be asked to submit your email address on the app.  Once they do so, you will receive an invitation email.
  2. Once your invitation appears in your email inbox, you are ready to download the Show Up app and sign up.  The full name of the app is “Show Up Theatre Management” and it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Android Google Play.
  3. Open the app
  4. Tap Sign Up.  It is in red at the very bottom of the screen, below the Sign In button.
  1. Enter your email address and tap Send One Time Password.
  1. Open your email inbox and look for the message from Show Up with your 4 digit verification code. Type that code into the Show Up app and tap Submit. If you don't see an email from us, try refreshing your inbox or checking your Spam folder. If you use Gmail, you may want to check your Promotions and Social tabs.
  1. Under “Signup As,” select Parent
  1. Fill in your name, email, date of birth, and password. You will also need to check that you agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy. Then, tap Signup. Note: We ask for your date of birth to ensure we are in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule ("COPPA").
  1. You will see a dialogue box instructing you to complete your profile. Tap OK!.
  1. Complete your personal profile. Be sure to add a profile picture so that other users can easily recognize you in the app. Tap the image icon at the top of the screen to add your photo. Fill in the rest of the text boxes.
  1. Tap the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.
  1. You will see this dialogue box letting you know that you are finished setting up your account. Tap Sounds good!.
  1. If you are the first parent to be synced to your student's account, you will need to wait for your student's teacher to approve you. Once they do so, you will receive this push notification and can begin using the app:

Note: if your student already has at least one parent synced to their account, you will not have to wait for their school to approve you before you can begin using the app.

As a parent user in the app, you will be able to see your student's schedule in the calendar. Your calendar will be customized with only the events to which your student(s) is invited. You can tap on the Messages button on your dashboard to see relevant group chats that involve your student. You will also see a private chat between you, your student, and your student's teacher.
